Now, writing only about Turkish history will certainly not do a justice to this land as we sit on top of a world heritage. From Urartians to Hittites, Greeks to Lydians, Romans to Ottomans, it is truely a historian's or archaeologist's dream come true. Let me just say I will try to give every and each one of them their fair share, but please do not forget this is not an academic site (read "Do not expect beyond the abilities of a poor traveler").
One thing that really made me doubt is the classification. After long thought I have decided to do it in a way visitors will be most comfortable. So, here it is:
Republic
Present day Turkey, 20th century onwards.
Ottoman Empire
Covering 13th through 19th century.
Roman
Upto 12th century.
Pre-Roman
Asia Minor (Anatolia) before Romans.
Asia
Turkish (if one can use the term like this before nationalism as a concept did not exist) history in Asia.
