The trouble with the group of acquired perception is they are extremely vocal, and they are often cited as experts by numerous sources. Not only they pump, via media, a variety of interesting but useless b.s. that does not make sense, they also alter or adversely affect the natural perception group, because the latter think the former as locals.

First things first, I consider any information, idea, observation made naturally from outside, by a non-local an invaluable contribution. See, as locals we are inside our little box, have never had the opportunity to look from outside or above. The constraints that stop us are not only geographical. The biases, habits and all follow us wherever we go. So, we will never have the opportunity to have that different angle, the angle of the outsider, fresh, unprecedented, free of all that in a way poison us, yet at the same time make us who we are.

But this is not so in the case of acquired preference. They are an anomaly, a group of freaks, if I may say so in a good sense. Their local instincts are dumbed, or distorted by an education foreign to them, with a language not natural. And the only thing that can put them back on track, at least partially, is the introduction of another factor, a factor which I call the traumatic element.

We can define the traumatic element as anything or anyone so important, so valuable, so precious that when introduced to the acquired perception group, their brains will be forced to make most of the missing associations, which will still be incomplete though, for the fear of losing or harming the element. It is a technique I will be using over and over. It simply works.

Before closing I would like to emphasize once more: naturally made observations are not only desirable but necessary. Take my case, for instance. I am writing about Turkey, its culture, history etc, but it is so difficult to say negative things about one’s own country; it is a topic where I can never be objective. Therefore I need those natural remarks, comments etc, to steer myself, to reconsider my position, to judge if I am balanced.

Some more theoretical stuff will be added later and in order not to bore you to death, let us begin our expedition without further delay.
